Christmas is over, cancelled, even! We saw the girls get presents, give away their breakfast, give their mother presents, and put on a little play, much like I assume the zoomers of today are doing inside their phones and whatnot. Relish these sweet notes of hearth and home! For soon it will be the new year for all, and the last year for some.
The next character from the book (Little Women) to be eliminated, as voted by the readers is….

To be frank? VERY surprised we ended up here. I was certain there would be a hail-mary play by Team Old Mr. Laurence. But alas! A mother needs must pass!
This will be a tricky knot to untie here, ngl. Captain March was an easy lift out of the story. Marmee is…Marmee! The girls look almost exclusively to her for comfort and guidance, especially in these first ten chapters. Mrs. March is VERY present in a lot of events! And even if plot wasn’t a consideration, we have to take into account that it’ll be impossible for the loss of a mother to not immediately impact the girls’ motivations.
And YOU did that! To ME.
I believe we have here the first real narrative challenge of the project. I’m equal parts excited and royally pissed. Not to worry though, we’ll figure out how to dispatch the nice lady!
Not sure of the specifics, but expect the next Death Interlude to come sometime next week. After that, an introduction to Chapter Three. Time is moving so fast! The cat is in the cradle and the silver whatnots!
